Today was an action packed day starting at 6:30, Yard Sales, TARGET, organic market, Food Lion, home for naps, Baby Shower, Nana's for Mom's day Dinner(with a short break for a trip to Ross to buy a smokin hot dress for Ty and I's Anniversary get away next weekend!!) Then finally back home for bed, well for the boys anyway, and some breathing time for me.
My Daily High came at the end of the evening at my Nana's. It was 8ish and we were all packing our things about to head to our cars when my Papa, quiet, calm Papa decides to turn on the water sprinkler. Some moms dared their kids to go near it, while some of us just stood back to see what the kids would do. Of course my Titus was one of the first to stick his face right in it, completely soaked before we could even stop him. My nana was yelling at my papa for turning it on, ordering it to be turned off and my papa just stood there watching and smiling as one by one the kids were jumping in and getting soaked. Finally the moms that had dared their kids to go near, were encouraging them to hop in. Next thing I know, Ty is stuffing my pockets with all of his things so that he could take Jude into the chaos. The kids laughter was contagious and we all stood there for about 15 minutes just watching. I loved seeing the great joy on the kids faces, and also loved that Titus just had a nice shower to get rid of all the dirt he had been playing in all afternon. But I have to say, my favorite part was the joy on my Papa's face. He is the quiet man in control. Anyone else could have turned on that sprinkler and would have been immediately made to turn it off and no kids would have been wet. But my Papa, our Patriarch turned this into a special moment. It is so easy to just always say no to our kids, but I love when I can remember that fun is a big priority in life, and that clothes can be washed and bodies dried.
We had to strip Titus down and luckily had a beach towel in the trunk to wrap him in on the ride home. It was totally worth it.
