I love MOPS!!
I had such a great time this morning at MOPS. I love getting in a room full of ladies and gabbing about life, our kids driving us crazy, our kids making us happy and then of course occasionally that man that helped bring those kids into our lives. We are going through a study on this book called Momology by Shelly Radic. In the forward Naomi Cramer Overton says that "Radic has articulated what I knew in my gut to be true--that mothering is an inexact process of figuring out what works for me and my family, and that while there are foundational principles, each child will stretch and challenge our mothering expertise in different ways". Well this was in my gut too. It is so reassuring to hear someone else say it. Often I wish I could do things more like another mom that seems to do it all just perfect, but God made me to be me, and he gave these kids to me knowing who I was and I believe that he has put inside of me just what these precious ones of mine need. I'm so thankful that I have become a part of this group. It seems as though for the last few months I have been finding more and more new connections in our community. It is exciting for me, especially since we have not been a part of a traditional church in a few years, I feel as though I am part of the church when I am with all these new friends in my life.

"Sleeping" in
Today my hubby got up with the kids and I got to sleep in, well I say sleep in but really I couldn't sleep anymore so I got to lay in bed and read a book. I just started the Shack again, a whole hour of reading. Then I hopped in the shower and took a long one. All kid uninterrupted time. It is amazing how having a little time to myself in the morning can really start the day off right. This is where I make a promise to myself that from now on I will get up at 5:30 in the morning so that I can have said time, but I know that tomorrow I will be awakened by my precious(I have to remind myself in the mornings that he really is precious) 4 year old "mom, lets go downstairs and turn on my show" No good mornings or how did you sleep, just get right to work!!

Sprinkler Fun
Today was an action packed day starting at 6:30, Yard Sales, TARGET, organic market, Food Lion, home for naps, Baby Shower, Nana's for Mom's day Dinner(with a short break for a trip to Ross to buy a smokin hot dress for Ty and I's Anniversary get away next weekend!!) Then finally back home for bed, well for the boys anyway, and some breathing time for me.
My Daily High came at the end of the evening at my Nana's. It was 8ish and we were all packing our things about to head to our cars when my Papa, quiet, calm Papa decides to turn on the water sprinkler. Some moms dared their kids to go near it, while some of us just stood back to see what the kids would do. Of course my Titus was one of the first to stick his face right in it, completely soaked before we could even stop him. My nana was yelling at my papa for turning it on, ordering it to be turned off and my papa just stood there watching and smiling as one by one the kids were jumping in and getting soaked. Finally the moms that had dared their kids to go near, were encouraging them to hop in. Next thing I know, Ty is stuffing my pockets with all of his things so that he could take Jude into the chaos. The kids laughter was contagious and we all stood there for about 15 minutes just watching. I loved seeing the great joy on the kids faces, and also loved that Titus just had a nice shower to get rid of all the dirt he had been playing in all afternon. But I have to say, my favorite part was the joy on my Papa's face. He is the quiet man in control. Anyone else could have turned on that sprinkler and would have been immediately made to turn it off and no kids would have been wet. But my Papa, our Patriarch turned this into a special moment. It is so easy to just always say no to our kids, but I love when I can remember that fun is a big priority in life, and that clothes can be washed and bodies dried.
We had to strip Titus down and luckily had a beach towel in the trunk to wrap him in on the ride home. It was totally worth it.

Are we BEST Friends?
My awesome sister in law Jill and I discovered today that we are one of each others best friends. This is really funny, because for months now we have been spending many of our stay at home Mom hours together. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday we watch each others boys so that we can each go to the gym. Most days this ends in us eating lunch together at her house, going out to lunch, or some shopping. Today was no different and these times shared with my new Best Friend are always a happy ones.
Today while she slaved away at the gym, I slaved away on the computer working on one of my favorite hobbies, house hunting. My husband is not so fond of this hobby, since we have only been in our house 3 years and have no plans or money for moving. But I get some crazy rush from checking out all the details of a great house; fenced in yard, Bonus room, hot tub, and a must for Jill, two kitchens, haha, maybe not a must but a dream for sure. And todays house hunting was all about her and my brother and their 3 boys. When she got home I sold her on all the new prospects and we made a plan to check them out. After making sure all the kids had on something green (since it is St. Patty's day and we are great moms) we strapped Jaimie (4 years), Titus (3 years), Conner (1 year) and Jude (1 year) in the car for the exciting adventure of finding the perfect house, well exciting adventure to us anyway. So we rode by lots of houses, peered in some windows, imagined all the boys playing the back yard, and decided if the kitchens were worthy of Jill's amazing cake baking skills. Each of the boys had their toy tools in hand "working" on each others nerves, Titus was crying incessantly, and Conner just trying to hold his eyes open, but none of this mattered. Something about having another mom around helps the chaos of the kids not seem so...chaotic.
Finally we decided it was time for a little lunch, and todays lunch would be popcorn at Target. After 10 minutes of strapping them in buggies, unstrapping them for the potty, potty break for moms, and waiting for "Lunch", we were finally ready to explore our newest horizon. We checked out the $4 shirts and shorts, Jaimie played us a song on the CD Sampler, we hit all the end of the aisle clearance, checked out the things we had already bought from pampered chef or Southern living at home that were there and much cheaper, oh well, then of course there was need of another potty break, so we parted ways and I continued looking. I made my way all over the store and we met back at the front only to find that we had seperately picked up the granola bars that were on clearance, 4 for $0.48, what a deal. Then we took off for home.
There is a beautiful thing in friendship and realizing that you value and are valued by another person. Jill has been a great friend, we have shared days like today, nothing to special but nice to have someone to share it with, great conversations, our crazy fears, our failures, and triumphs. I told Jill today, "God gave us to each other, no one else could understand our craziness", and knowing that someone else not only understands, but experiences the same craziness that I do, gives me my daily high.

Taking Note of the Good!
I was reading a magazine article tonight about what makes people happy. I got to thinking, there are lots of things in my life that make me happy but I often focus on the the stressful and frustrating things of my day. This blog is all about Taking Note of the Good things in my life. My goal is to make it here once a day to reflect on My Daily High.
Tonight my high was my ME Time. I put Jude (1 year old) in the bed and kissed Ty (the husband) and Titus (3 year old) goodbye and was on my way. First I hit up TJ Max, I looked at all the purses I would never wear, pretended I had a reason to check out some high heels, imagined entertaining with some Rooster printed plates, looked at 20 more planners I was sure I needed even though I have barely written in the one I bought a month ago, journeyed through the toys that I told myself I would use as some kind of teaching tools for the kids and then a half hour later went back through the front doors empty handed and completely satisfied.
Then I ventured over to Books A Million and made myself pass quickly by the $1, $2, $3 last chance shelves that I spent an hour at last month and bought 4 books that I imagined myself sitting by the back sliding door of my house in my white chair with ottoman sipping some hot tea (which I never do) and feeling cultured for reading some unheard of authors. I read 1 chapter in one of those books and hoped I could maybe get $0.50 back for it at a yard sale. I could not let my self get sucked in to that again. So I went straight to the cafe counter and got my 20oz full fat(but no whipped cream) caramel macchiato with a zebra hazelnut biscotti, yum. I made my way to the back carefully picked out a magazine(my companion for the next 20 minutes) and parked it on a bench. I slowly dipped and ate my biscotti and licked my zebra covered hands as I read every word of the magazine. I think you may have to be a mom to fully appreciate this moment. No kid anywhere in site to ask for your coffee or biscotti or to interupt every 5 seconds as you try to read about how to reduce the stress in your life. Oh yeah, this was my happy time today. I had only been out of the house a little more than an hour and some how it felt like a long vacation and I was ready to get back home. I am so thankful to my husband for realizing the importance of my sanity and letting me get out of the house tonight for my daily high.
